Mike McElhinny provides guidance on health and safety issues to a wide range of industrial and commercial clients including issues related to; welding and metal fabrication, machining operations, noise surveys, confined space assessments and audits, energy isolation (LOTO) audits and equipment specific procedures, and chemical management. He routinely conducts industrial hygiene and safety risks assessments in varied settings and trains clients’ employees on fall protection, LOTO, arc flash, fork truck usage, confined space awareness and non-entry rescue, respirator and PPE usage, and fire extinguisher awareness and hands on usage.
Mr. McElhinny holds a Bachelor of Science in Earth Science from Gannon University. He is a Certified Industrial Hygienist, maintaining certification in chemical aspects.
Mr. McElhinny’s career of more than 35 years has featured an emphasis on industrial hygiene and safety in heavy industrial facilities. He began his career as an Environmental Specialist at the Erie County Department of Health and continued as an Air Quality Department Head at Microbac Laboratories, as a Safety and Security Supervisor at RMI Environmental Services, and as the Global Industrial Hygiene and Chemical Management Leader at GE Transportation in Erie, Pennsylvania.
When not assisting clients on their Health and Safety needs, Mike enjoys all outdoor activities including fishing and hunting. During colder months he can be found safely working in his woodworking shop building everything from Adirondack chairs to picture frames.
